Effect of Plasma Actuator on Velocity and Temperature Profiles of High Aspect Ratio Rectangular Jet

The turbulence jet centerline velocity and temperature decay intensely along the flow direction. Thus, improving it could benefit engineering applications, such as air conditioners. However, active control techniques with high-aspect-ratio jets, especially for controlling temperature, have not been widely investigated. This paper presents performance of a rectangular controlled by two dielectric barrier discharge plasma actuators located on longer sides nozzle high-voltage high-frequency pulse-width modulation sinusoidal waves. scanning method was used to cover 362 cases combinations working parameters (modular frequency vs. duty phase difference) performances jets. Results show that can both distribution minor input power compared jet’s kinetic energy heat flux. increased up 4% decreased 11%, measured at interest position where x/h = 70 centerline. There were 5% increase decrease temperature-based case. Distinctive distributions observed under noteworthy cases, indicating potential actuator create various features without installing new hardware flow.
